Happy Planet, Green Suggestions from Kenneth Brown
Green Design is also referred to as "sustainable design", "eco-design", or "design for environment".Our purpose here is to list tips, fact, and ideas for all of us to start making the changes to make our planet a happy one!The essential aim is to produce places, products and services in a way that reduces use of non-renewable resources, minimizes environmental impact, and relates people with the natural environment.Green Design is a reaction to global "environment crisis", crisis in large part caused by conventional design and industrial products, which disregard the risks and environmental impacts. We are here to make an effort to make our planet better by introducing groups and charities that are doing good to help us have better lives.Check back often as I intend to share new products and practices that are available.

A few more things to think about:
- Make sure to unplug small appliances and electronic devices, when not in use.
- For full loads, a modern, energy-efficient dishwasher uses less energy and water than washing by hand.
- Buy larger containers of food. This requires less packaging and less trips to the store.
- Instant hot water filters (insinkerator.com) use less energy than the old stove and kettle method.
- Multi-flush toilet can save a family of 4 up to 6000 gallons a year.
- Think about whether a green option is green for you or green for the environment. Find the balance.

Just a few things to think about:
If coffee drinkers used refillable mugs, we could prevent 7 million pounds of CO2 emissions everyday.
Planting 140,000 trees could also neutralize the damage.
340 billion gallons of water are pulled from rivers in the U.S. and cleaned for home, commercial and industrial use.
That’s 5 gallons of water for every person on the planet, each day.
If every U.S. home exchanged the 5 most used bulbs with Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs), greenhouse gases would be reduced by 1 trillion pounds, in the course of the bulbs’ life.

“compact fluorescent light-bulbs last six to 10 times longer and are more energy efficient than conventional ones.”
“If every coffee-drinking American used a refillable mug instead of disposable cup, we would spare our environment close to seven million pounds of CO2 emissions every day. Or we could plant 140,000 trees to neutralize the damage.”
“50 % of all paper, 34% of all plastic soda bottles, 45% of all aluminum beverage cans, 63% of all steel packaging, and 67% of all major appliances ARE RECYCLED.”
“340 billion gallons of water are pulled from rivers, streams, and reservoirs in the United States and cleaned for residential, commercial, and industrial use. That’s more than five gallons of water for every person in the world each day.”
“We lose at least 37.5 million acres ( an area the size of Georgia) of rain forest every year; rain forests are home to half of the earth’s animal and plant species.”

Adding compelling, end-user-focused details to your next proposal can mean the difference between a successful pitch and a missed opportunity. Consider highlighting these points:1. Health matters. Select the environmentally preferred options such as no- or low-VOC paints. take careful precautions to avoid compromising indoor air quality and your health.2. Bright equals natural light. Select paint shades that brighten indoor spaces and naturally reduce the need for artificial light, saving energy.3. Durability pays off. Choose products for their durability and appeal. They will last longer and cost less to maintain in the long run. The upfront expense of high-quality paints and premium paint supplies well worth the investment, because they can be applied more efficiently and yield better results. Durable formulations mean you’ll repaint less often, which helps minimize environmental impact.
