Sunday -
I love lazy Sunday’s, catching up on reading, TIVO, and throwing the ball with Oliver and Benson. Many of you asked what my favorite magazines are. I really enjoy any design magazine - House Beautiful, Western Interiors, Elle Decor, Met Home, Traditional Home, Domino. I imagine many of you tear out inspirational photos for your project. I’m no different, I do the same - I have binders full of torn out pages.

Thursday Night - GenArt
Last night I attended a benefit for GenArt. They are the leading Arts and Entertainment Organization dedicated to showcasing the best emerging talent in Film, Fashion, Art and Music. The great thing about this organization is that it offers emerging artist the opportunity to showcase their talent. Check out their website at www.genart.org
Hope you have a great weekend - I’ll be in town for the first time in 2 months and I’m looking forward to reading through the pile of design magazines stacked on my nightstand.

NAPA
I had a great weekend getaway to Napa Valley in Northern California. I drove up the Coast and stopped along the way to tour the Hearst Castle. It was very inspirational to see the attention to detail that was paid to all the amazing plaster detail.
This is a ceiling in one of the guest houses. I am inspired to use this color combination in an upcoming project

Pet Adoption
I am a huge dog person and every opportunity I get to help out with rescue shelters I’m there. Last weekend, I met with a great group of volunteers who rescue greyhounds. This group is dedicated to helping these dogs transition out of a life of competition and abuse to loving homes. I hope to spread the word about this great cause. Greyhounds do not need a lot of excercise and are very lovable - excellent pets for those who live in apartments as well as houses. If you get a chance, visit www.greyhoundog.org

I enjoyed sharing my design process on the showcase loft I designed with fellow designers today. It’s nice to get a chance to catch up and share what is going on in our industry. Thanks to LA Mart Design Center and LA Magazine for hosting this morning.

Saturday Night
It’s nice to be back home after a lot of traveling for work. I made it back from San Diego yesterday in time to go to my friend Sally Horchow’s birthday celebration. Sally knows how to throw a party, she had magicians, balloon artist, and a speical martini complete with Pop Rocks on the rim of each glass. Did I mention she also had an ice cream bar? My favorite was the freeze dried ice cream that was in the gift bags (the stuff they send to space with the astronauts)
It was a nice suprise to run into Chris & Sarah who were on the first season of my show. I did a reDesign of their pool house - congrats to them on the arrival of their new baby boy!

The Showcase Loft Project

My best friend John collects Harley’s and Custom Choppers - he was nice enough to let me borrow it for this showcase loft - it’s the largest accessory I have ever worked with - it looks great in the entry.

Atlanta and San Diego

Update
It is already Friday and I have not posted in a while. Thanks to all who tuned in to NBC’s ivillage show last Friday. It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of fun people. The show is actually shot inside Universal Studio’s Theme Park in Orlando Florida. There was a funny moment backstage when I was in the green room and to the right of me was Hiro’s dad from Heroes, George Taki (also from StarTrek) and to my left was Spiderman (who was getting warmed up for his show in the park) You can tune into my segment by visiting www.ivillage.com the clip is about Spring Tips for your home.
This week has been busy as we finished up the downtown loft for the James Bond character. Show House tours are April 13-29. You can buy tickets at www.lamag.com/biscuitcompanylofts.com or 323-993-7211. Proceeds benefit GenArt.
In addition to this, I am wrapping up a job in the Hollywood Hills. This project has taken 10 months to complete - and it is turning out amazing. I plan to post new photos of this project as well as others soon (on the new website).
For now, I’ll share a photo of the terrace on the 10th floor of the penthouse loft - what James Bond character wouldn’t want a miniature putting green off his bedroom?
