Question:
Hi Kenneth! My husband and I are building our first home and having trouble deciding on cabinet and countertop colors for our kitchen. We will have darker hardwood floors (color is saddle from Bruce Hardwood by Armstrong) in the kitchen and throughout the main floor. Our kitchen will be open to the living area. The paint colors we’ve picked will be in the gray and blue range. Thank you so much for your help! We can’t wait for your new shows to start.
Answer:
If you’re going for a more modern look, go with painted cabinets in a hi-gloss finish with stainless steel counters. If you want a more traditional look, go for a painted cabinet with a slight wash to add a patina. I would pair this with a limestone type counter (look at ceasarstone’s limestone - it offers a great look without the maintenance of real limestone).
For the all time classic kitchen, Do white cabinets with a Shaker style door, Calcutta marble counters and pure white 3x6 subway tile for a backsplash.

Question:
Kenneth, I just saw the latest KBTV episode and so enjoyed watching you talk about your baby’s nursery. Your ideas for it are wonderful and she is going to love that very special room you are preparing for her.
What a blessing she will be to you and she is a blessed baby to have you as her father. Whenever you interacted with children on reDesign it was obvious you loved them and this little one, I know, will be especially loved. Can’t wait to see the finished room and hopefully pictures of your baby. God bless you and Harper. Carol
Answer:
Thank you Carol - I will be sure to share pictures of Harper’s room. The crib came in yesterday and I put it together last night.

Question:
I love the rooms 303/211 from your portfolio. I painted my living room Baguette (as you did in this room) and am ordering some chartreuse sofas. However, I have a bow window, and I wanted your opinion on dressing them. Would you use the same bronze color panels as in the room you did, or would you consider shades for each of the 5 windows in the bow? Of note, I am planning on putting a black baby grand in the room, which may influence the choice of window treatments.
Answer:
I always vote for full drapery panels in a living room. If it’s possible with your bow window, consider hanging the rod and drapes on the outside of the bow.
